Why average students become successful?

5 reasons why average students become successful

1. You are less judgmental

Unless you are an exception (in which case more on that later), you are a normal student.

You sit through lectures, assignments, and exams while reading on your phone, or chatting with your friends. You never do anything productive, but still you wake up early and study. And after the semester, you check your grades, and maybe even cry over the passing grades.

2. You fail more often

A study by Jason Klug showed that most people only perform well in one out of the three paradigms. So if you’re in one of the most competitive fields, you are unlikely to be in the top 10%.

Instead, you are unlikely to take a huge number of tests in one semester, and consequently, you probably fail more often than you succeed.

3. You love learning

People who didn’t care about their grades would focus on a topic they are interested in. But the most successful students in the world don’t find this approach practical.

Instead, they make sure they don’t waste their time on the things they are not passionate about, and instead spend their time learning.

Not only that, they make sure they spend time away from the books as well.

4. You are not hard on yourself

Most people are hard on themselves. They measure their own progress by comparing their performance to that of others.

However, in the world of startups, where you compete against other students, with the sole intention to become the best in your class, you need to be the best version of yourself.

There is no room for perfectionism. All that matters is the rate at which you are progressing.

5. You are happy with yourself

This is a key point. It can be really hard to be happy with yourself when you are not at the top.

You compare your grades and your performance with others, and end up comparing your self-esteem to that of your peers.

Having realized the flaws in this approach, these successful students started to be happy with who they are. They don’t compare themselves to others, instead they enjoy their time and help others be happy as well.

Successful students in the world of startups are happier people.
