How often have you wished you had spoken up and shared your opinions or ideas with your coworkers while you were at work? Perhaps you are the one who stays silent during meetings in the hopes that no one will ask for your opinion because you are afraid of having to speak up and possibly saying the wrong thing or freezing up and having nothing to say.
Do you think back later on all the wonderful things you might have shared if you had the courage to do so?
Although speaking up and feeling at ease in front of others are definitely not skills we are born with, the good news is that you can learn to do so!
You must have the sincere desire to be able to do it, as well as the drive to pick up a few useful talents.
So, the following are some of my top suggestions to get you started speaking confidently:
1. Start by keeping the end in mind.
So many people engage in idle chatter and conversation. In order to communicate successfully, you must understand how you will recognise when you have succeeded. How did you find that out?
Well, consider the outcome you hope to achieve from the conversation. Although it may seem unusual, you will be a lot more focused if you reverse the purpose of the message.
2. Pay attention to your body language
Use your entire body when communicating, just as you would when learning to write correctly. It isn’t just about what you say; it’s also about how you say it. Expression is not just using words; it also provides meaning to communication so that the other person can understand.
The only things that differ between the words are our emotion, intonation, and even body language. In contrast to what you really say in terms of voice content, how you choose to express yourself can tell more about you.
Take the time to practise, observe yourself, and you will learn more about and feel how you are expressing yourself. As a result, your communication will be a lot more successful.
Go give it a shot right now!
