3 Ways be strong in the decisions we take, especially changing/quitting bad habits
1. Fake it til you make it
Do you enjoy holding things in, or does it make you anxious? The best way to make the choice to change is to pretend like you have already made the choice. It might feel silly at first to pretend to be someone you’re not, but the more you practice pretending, the easier it will get. By pretending you made the decision, and actually made the decision, you are already a few steps ahead of where you were. So pretend, fake it till you make it. It is ok if you slip up. It’s a great learning tool. Just make sure you come back after you have committed, and tell yourself what you did wrong and how you will get back on track.
2. Create a goal and strategy
A “how to” recipe for overcoming your excuses.
A goal is just a general idea about something you want to accomplish. To set a goal, you must first figure out exactly what it is that you want to accomplish, then set a strategy for reaching your goal. When it comes to breaking bad habits, it is helpful to set the foundation first before tackling the hardest part of your goal.
3. Surround yourself with people who make you feel like a winner
Having a handful of “winners” in your life will help you achieve greatness. Surround yourself with people who make you feel proud, and content with your achievements, no matter how small. To be a winner, you must surround yourself with winners. If you are in a workplace environment, find mentors who are willing to take an interest in your career, and whom you admire and respect.
