5 ways to concentrate on your studies while being distracted
1. Stay away from distractions
Your classmates are busy discussing a rather intricate question that is making them laugh. If you happen to be in the same classroom, ignore them. Put your phone in your bag and get busy. Do not attempt to ask a question unless you are in the company of friends and classmates who are mature enough to answer your question. Avoid networking sites.
2. Take in your surroundings
Be physically active. Exercise. Perhaps run around the class like your attention span is running out? Exercise your body and mind, become physically engaged in something. Walking is a good option. However, exercising your body for half an hour only works to a certain extent. You will be thinking of your workout as you are going through your books.
3. Rest your eyes
If your eyes are not tired, sleep. The brain only works when it is rested. If it is tired, it will not function. Don’t talk or text on your phone while resting your eyes. Write something short to clear your mind.
4. Make eye contact
Maintain an eye contact with the teacher. This will keep your eyes busy. It will also help you to block out your classmates who will be wasting your time.
5. Use mirrors
Go to the bathroom before the class starts. Face a mirror and let your mind wander. See yourself as you would see yourself when you are in class. Relax. Exhaust yourself by thinking about the classroom.
