5 ways to overcome the disapproval of people
1. Breathe.
I can’t stress this one enough. The feeling of being scrutinised is a powerful, negative energy that can suck the life out of you. When the fear of rejection becomes overwhelming, taking a couple of deep breaths will calm your nerves and help you focus. You’re far less likely to be influenced by the reaction of other people when you’re calm.
Try this meditation.
2. Sing and dance.
Nothing makes you feel better than belting out a song while dancing around the room. Dance off your nerves. Dance your way out of a negative mood. It’s my favourite way to clear my head and get rid of any negative emotions. I also love singing in the shower.
3. Listen to upbeat music.
Vibe-wise, you’re more likely to feel better when you listen to upbeat music. Put your headphones on and head to YouTube or Spotify. You can learn a lot from the people around you when you listen to positive, motivating music.
4. Do a random act of kindness.
Whether you decide to hand out a note of kindness to a stranger in the street, smile and say hello to someone you don’t normally speak to, or offer to help with something that someone else needs help with, the impact that you can have on someone’s day can make all the difference. You never know, you may make someone’s day a little brighter and they might go on to pass on a random act of kindness to someone else.
5. Listen to positive news.
While it’s good to be aware of the negatives in the world, it’s also important to keep a positive outlook. You’ll find yourself far less reactive to what’s going on around you if you have a broader perspective.
Your life has many possibilities and the people around you are going to be supportive and inspiring.
