How do I think more clearly?

To think more clearly is to move beyond patterns that influence behavior and consider more possibilities.

Patterns are persuasive, but patterns can also lead to conclusions based on past experience.

Research tells us that looking at patterns can bias judgments.
Research also shows that looking at only one aspect of an experience can lead to a skewed vision.

Patterns can help predict the future, but that doesn’t mean they predict it perfectly.
Rather than assuming something has to occur because the current pattern predicts that something will occur, we need to consider whether or not something other than the current pattern will lead to the future.

At the end of the day, though, it is about not being swayed by the patterns.

They might be strong enough to influence you, but they are not the whole story.
The details of your life are important too.

Think about what you need to do in order to move forward with what you want to do.

You will figure out the right way to move forward on your own.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Especially if you are feeling overwhelmed by a situation.
Also, be kind to yourself.

If you don’t know what to do, don’t give up right away.
Research says that putting in efforts is important, even if you don’t immediately see the payoff.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek additional help.

Never, ever think of procrastination as some sort of intelligent decision.

It is a decision to keep doing something, even if you don’t know what to do with the information.

It is a decision to not seek out help.

It is a decision to keep letting things slip by.
