4 ways to rewire your brain to stay motivated
1. Change your beliefs
“If you can get a great enough start on your journey, you can change your beliefs and always find a way to be successful.
Changing your beliefs is a common issue for those trying to quit smoking or losing weight. If you quit smoking, how do you think your body will react when you can’t have one? If you’re trying to lose weight, how do you think it will feel when you can’t eat any more candy bars or cookies?
2. Change your environment
Your brain can be hardwired into habit or it can be flexible. When you’re trying to quit smoking, start in a different place. Set aside some time, start an incognito method on social media (like Facebook), watch videos to help get you past your craving.
Flexibility is a great skill to learn when trying to quit something, but don’t take a chance of it becoming a habit. You need to practice. “The best way to form a habit is to do it for a few days in a row.
3. Have clear goals
When trying to change your habits, write down some goals that you’re looking to accomplish. What’s your big picture? How much weight do you want to lose? When do you want to reach this goal?
Write these down and practice these daily. Have you ever told yourself, “I’ll start in the morning?” Well, when your alarm goes off and you have all sorts of excuses, think, “That’s it! The last thing I’ll do for the rest of the day!”
4. Use the “routine help” technique
One of the things that I’ve noticed as I’ve quit smoking is that I had an incredible drive to succeed.
