The most important step after identifying your values is comparing them to your daily routine. Are you able to adhere to the values you have stated? Do you feel that a value matters to you? Do you think you need a change?
Your values serve as a direction. Your values can help you get around your daily routine. Here are seven examples of how your daily activities can incorporate your values:
#1. Use your imagination to express in your own words what each value means to you.
Make a note of what each of your chosen core values means to you. What actions do you plan to take to implement this? For instance, being able to develop information in a way that is original, straightforward, and simple to understand is what my core value of innovation means to me. Innovation may or may not be in the concept, but it ought to be in the manner in which I convey it.
#2. Stick them to a board to serve as a reminder to live a life guided by your principles.
This method is quite beneficial. Sticky notes with your beliefs on them should be placed all around your desk at work. It serves as a reminder not to get sidetracked!
#3. Specify your objectives.
Establish achievable goals based on your values. For instance, you could set a goal to enrol in a course and obtain a certification if “Learning” is one of the fundamental values. You can be sure to go on at least one adventurous vacation a year if “Adventure” is your fundamental value.
#4. Take action.
Making decisions, whether they are simple or complex, is one of the most difficult things in life. Making decisions requires a lot of mental effort. Your morals can definitely help a lot in this situation. How?
• Decisions become simpler. When something goes against your moral principles, it’s simple to let it go.
• You make decisions with clarity. Why you made that decision, why it’s the best move for you, etc.
#5. Increase self-awareness
Your values help you get to know yourself better. Your priorities, preferences, and behaviour are all revealed through them. Your values provide an explanation for all of the “whys” behind your behaviour, including your likes, dislikes, what irritates you, what makes you happy, and what you hope for in life. Improved self-connection leads to greater self-awareness.
A powerful method to live intentionally is to truly live your principles. Knowing your unique core values is one thing; actually living them is another. Because you are living your values, your life is more authentic and stable because you are aware of who you are and what you will (or won’t) stand for. Finding your life purpose and ways to assist the world might be facilitated by living in accordance with your principles.
