What is a management style?

Management style refers to the approach or way in which a manager or leader supervises and directs their employees or team members. It encompasses the attitudes, behaviors, and techniques used by the manager to motivate and manage the team towards achieving organizational goals.

There are various management styles, including authoritarian, democratic, laissez-faire, transformational, and transactional. Each style has its unique characteristics, and the chosen management style can have a significant impact on the team’s performance, job satisfaction, and overall work culture.

For instance, an authoritarian management style involves a top-down approach where the manager makes all the decisions, gives orders, and expects employees to follow them without question. In contrast, a democratic management style involves a collaborative approach, where the manager involves employees in decision-making, and the team works together to achieve common goals.
